About

Bart Ramakers (°1963) is a Belgian artist. His tableaux are inspired by ancient myths and tales about beauty and power, passion and betrayal, sensuality and brutality, life and death. He colors and comments these classic themes from a 21st century point of view. Sometimes sensual, sometimes fragile, sometimes humoristic, always with a keen eye for aesthetics. When not dwelling through the catacombs of Western Civilisation, he is travelling and picturing the world.

 The final word

“There is a dark sweet strangeness that radiates from within An Sophie and Bart’s work. Maybe it’s because it is the work of two very talented people, four eyes with a razor focus on different things which pull in tandem to create images that force the viewer, if the viewer takes the time and effort, to see what these amazingly talented people have placed on a banquet laden table for us, the mere viewer,…
…and let’s face it, the juices of a rich meal really do taste best when those juices are running from the corners of one’s mouth, not caring about the mess.
Enjoy these rich juices served by An Sophie and Bart. I do, on a very regularly lust schedule.”
