Now the annual Belgian Dynasty festivities have ended, I like to answer the question of His Majesty the King for more authentic interaction. Do you also feel this need for better dialogue, deeper friendship, more artistry and especially more authenticity? Below you’ll find four excellent opportunities to make a start!
Gallery Leopold 22, Zeedijk 716 Knokke / Het Zoute opens its doors to a fine selection of recent work four artist friends on Sunday August 2nd at 14h. Be welcome, enjoy a day or a weekend by the sea, and I will introduce my good friends to you on this occasion. Alex Timmermans is a rapidly rising star in the international photography firmament, he exposed a few months ago his slightly surrealistic plates at Paris Photo LA. Frédéric Fontenoy is the Parisian master of the erotic. He has created a completely unique universe, interspersed with art historical references and winks. No need to introduce Dany Tulkens: we exhibited together many times. His latest and extremely virtuosic work will amaze you! More information about the gallery here.
Sunday August 9 at 14h my new book “Trouble in Paradise” is presented to the public in Hoste Art Residence, New Gentweg 118, Bruges (read a nice review of my actual exhibition there). If you’re subscribing now, you can purchase the book for 45 euros instead of 50 euros, there are still copies of the signed and numbered limited series available at 95 euros instead of 100. The first ones are in my hands here now, they smell and feel delicious, they look great and they crave for a passionate owner!
And one activity to finish the summer: Sunday, August 30th at 15h in Hof ter Linden (Edegem) opens my next exhibition, “In the castle of Bluebeard”. A unique opportunity to discover the classicist castle Hof ter Linden from top to below while visiting my personal version of the story of Bluebeard, at the very place where the photos were taken. It will be an exciting tale about secrets, voyeurism and exhibitionism, and none other than Geert Stadeus (Editor Snoecks) provides the introduction. Anyone who wants it, can begin his visit with a brunch or continue with a dinner in style, highly recommended, because the chef is none other than Yannick Van Aeken, until recently sous chef in the Noma restaurant in Copenhagen! Do not forget to reserve your participation with firstname.lastname@example.org.
Finally, for the impatient ones: this weekend July 24-26 opening weekend of ‘t Atelier, Roland Rens Kade 41 in Aarschot. Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 14h, surrounded by artists such as Roland Rens, Dany Tulkens, Dré Peeters, Jan Rosseels, Eline ‘t Sant and many others!
Have a wonderful summer, and see you soon I hope!
