The Bart Ramakers Portfolios
9 is a very special number. It looks more or less like a fetus, so it makes sense that at the same time it is the Hebrew symbol for the uterus. But it is not only a new beginning, it also stands for an end: the 9 is the highest single digit number in the decimal system. So it’s only logical that 9 stands not only with mathematicians, but also with Hindus and Bahai for the end of a cycle, for completeness. Each ending is a new beginning, and so is the 9 in the tarot symbol for crisis, for transformation, for a new start. No wonder that a human pregnancy lasts 9 months!
We are all convinced that this Corona period is one of transformation. We do not yet know what will be born out of it, but we hope for a new society with more attention to everything we find more important now. More friendship and attention for each other and the climate, solidarity, mutual help. Less stress, pollution, materialism, pursuit of profit.
In anticipation of all that beauty, I have decided to shape my own artistic transformation and make it accessible to everyone. Because three times three is nine, I have created three portfolio folders: one with 9 classics from my oeuvre, one with 9 lesser-known gems, and one with 9 brand-new works that will only find their place in a new book at the end of 2020: The Bride Unveiled.
